What If?
Not convinced that it’s worth it to try to cut costs for the most important day of your life? Consider this: what if you had a small private affair for your closest friends and relatives and didn’t buy an expensive engagement ring, spending around $13,000 for your wedding instead of the average price tag of $27,000?
What if you invested the $14,000 you saved in the stock market and left it there until you retired (assuming 40 years later), earning an average of 10% a year? What would you end up with? A whopping $634,000!
It’s hard to look so far ahead when you’re just starting out in your life together, but the world is full of people who find themselves quickly approaching retirement age without the financial means to retire. When all is said and done, I’ll bet many of them would have traded a bigger, fancier wedding for the $634,000 nest egg.

I understand some people would rather take money over an experience that only lasts a day, but you only live once… and most of us only plan on getting married ONCE. So, I totally understand people who would prefer to not have cheap bubbles & plastic-ware reminiscent of their 5th birthday party and would, instead, rather make it a nice, special occasion that they know they will remember for the rest of their lives (with or without $634,000 in their bank account).
I was able to stay within my budget and give amazing custom gifts! I stumbled upon a site http://www.Abaroni.com with a sister site of http://www.PookiesPurses.com. I contacted customer service and ordered a custom made jean purse for all my bride’s maids. I requested that each one be unique. I was only charged $15.00 per purse! I loved the idea of giving something that lasts that wouldn’t put me over my budget. The purses are adorable and have tiny Swarovski crystals on them. I told her that my wedding theme was tropical so she designed them around my theme. I also had Abaroni design all my bride’s maid jewelry using antique pieces that I found at an antique mall. I sent them to her and she created some amazing pieces that have a lot of history to them already. I loved these sites and wish her well.
That’s great advice! We’re doing something similar with a ‘destination wedding’ / honeymoon package in Virginia believe it or not. Lots of places offer honeymoon packages in more regional places. It’s completely possible to have just as awesome of a wedding and even get some honeymoon travel done within the US and within a good budget! Thanks for the article!
Thanks for this article. As a newly web, I considered all wedding blog. Finding a good wedding gift idea is quite hard. So, I believe people will enjoy reading this blog and found useful things. Enjoy!

This is great advice! It’s easy to get swept away and let the bill get out of hand. My husband and I had a tiny budget and a small intimate ceremony and I’ve never regretted it. Your wedding was the first day of our long life (I hope) together and I didn’t want it to send us into debt.
It is good to know some of the feedbacks when it comes to Artificial Wedding Flowers specially in Sydney. Thanks for the ideas.
